- - - | Vintage Card table of an 18th century English Georgian interpretation Item # 36 Click HERE to inquire about this item Vintage card table, 20th century interpretation of an 18th century English Georgian original. The shaped top, cabriole legs, egg-and-dart carved edge, scrolled apron, and leaf-carved knees are all typical of 18th century case furniture. These motifs were carried over to England from the earlier, more flamboyant baroque taste of Continental Europe. They were refined by important English designers such as Thomas Chippendale, among others. Your table was made between 1930 and 1940, when pale figured maple was used for just about everything. It could have been made anywhere from the mid-Atlantic up through the Northeast.
