Walker Weed Modern studio furniture movement couch. "Walker Weed worked with Georg Nakashima. Walker Weed made beautiful hand made furniture from black walnut in the 1940 to 1950 period. This studio couch measures 25 and one half inches high,84 inches long,seat 26 inches deep which vases back to 31 inches,and the back single board is 11 and three quarters inches. Modern movement American Walnut couch. "The studio furniture story begins with Wharton Esherick of Pennsylvania, universally acknowledged as the founder of the movement. In 1940 his table and chairs were seen by millions of people in the “America at Home” display at the New York World’s Fair, bringing studio furniture to the attention of a wide audience for the first time. Esherick, along with George Nakashima, Sam Maloof, Walker Weed, and other early makers of the 1940s and 1950s, was enthralled by the qualities of wood and produced graceful, beautifully crafted furniture in a modern mode.This excerpt taken from "The Maker's Hand: American Studio Furniture 1940-1990 The evolution of innovative and artistic furniture design. Aesthetic Movement bronze plant stand. This American Bronze Aesthetic movrement plant stand measures 29 and three quarters inches high 16 and three eighths inches wide by 12 and one half inches deep outside. The outside measurements of the curved legs is 20 inches wide by 16 inches deep. The inside measurement where one would put a piece of marble,granite or glass is 16 three eighths inches. C1880. This piece has the most beautiful casting depicting birds both in flight and in berry bushes. Excellent original condition

Period Stockholm Continental Marquetry Chest, This fantastic 18th century chest has three graduated drawers. The drawers measure 5 inches,9 and one half inches and ten inches high. The chest is 35 and one quarter inches wide,34 inches high and 19 inches deep. Original key and locks. the top has banded inlay and the front and both sides have bronze decorations and detailed inlay. c1775

Louis Vuitton Large travel trunk c1893. This Louis Vuitton trunk is all original including the four graduated inserts. Three of the inserts measure 6 inches deep and on is four inches. There is also a fifth that is small and fits in the top insert. The top has a slight sag and one handle is off but could easily be put back by a cobbler.Other than that there are no breaks or damage. This Vuitton trunk has is original label inside that says Louis Vuitton 1 Rue Scribe 454 Strand London #111684. Measures 44 inches wide by 24 inches deep by 28 inches high.
