This period Victorian "walnut cylinder desk" dates from 1865 and was sold by the Skandia Furniture Company in Rockford Illinois. This antique walnut "cylinder desk" measures 81 and three quarters inches high and 36 and one quarter inches wide. This period antique secretary desk is all original with both top and bottom matching,each having original labels and carving detail. Many times bases have tops that are from the same period but not original to one another like this piece has. The desk surface originally had felt or leather but know is just the original wood. This piece still has its old wavy blown glass. This piece was purchased form and elderly woman in New Hampshire by our consignor 25 years ago and it had been in her family since its purchase.

- - - | Birdesye Maple Country Sheraton Butlers desk Item # 3449 Click HERE to inquire about this item Antique American furniture butler's secretary, 40 and one half inches wide x 20 and one half inches deep by 45 inches high. It is of northern New England origin, either New Hampshire or Vermont, circa 1825-35. The case is made of bird's eye maple; the drawer fronts are book-matched crotch grain veneers of either wavy birch or mahogany; the cross-band edge veneers could be mahogany, maple or cherry. The simple Sheraton design of this secretary lacks the flair and elegance of high style city furniture. It is a straightforward, good country piece made by a skilled but less sophisticated cabinetmaker.
