Antique English Arts Crafts Ambrose Heal desk Item # 1757 Click HERE to inquire about this item Antique English oak Arts and Crafts furniture, This wonderful Arts and Crafts drop front secretary desk was made for "Ambrose Heal" The original brass stamp is on the back which states Heal and Son 196 Tottenham CT Road London. This wonderful arts and crafts secretary desk has many of the lines and construction that important American Arts and Crafts makers such as Gustav Stickley,Roycroft,Limbert and others have used in their furniture designs and construction consisting of hand hammered hardware,dovetails,mortises and wood pins . This secretary measures 78 inches high by 38 inches wide. The base measures 20 inches at the base and 12 inches deep at the top. The doors have individual divided light glass windows along with its original hand hammered hardware. The top base and drawer sides have wonderful wide hand cut dovetails. This oak arts and crafts secretary disassembles into three pieces. The crest,center and base.The finish is original and there are no signs of any repairs. Ambrose Heal employed craftsman from over England to make items from both his design and designs from his team of designers. He designed mostly for his store which is still in the same place.Ownership changed hands upon his death in 1959. This dropfront secretary came to us from a local estate with English connections. Antique brass Anglo India plant holder Item # 1763 Click HERE to inquire about this item "Antique brass planter" antique Anglo India solid brass plant or tree planter. This antique brass handmade planter is one of the best we have handled or ever seen. Its scalloped rim is hand wrought and applied with individual brass pins. The handles were made to look like ferns and the piece is held together with hand made screws and nuts. This fantastic English brass planter is like a piece of furniture. It measures 21 inches high by 24 inches across its top.This very unique and decorative planter dates from 1840 to 1875 and it is possible that this piece held a lemon tree. The table measures 35 inches wide, 18 inches deep, has 9 inch leaves and is 28 inches high with two knuckle arm swing outs that hold the leaves up.The two drop leaves were replaced many years ago but are period single cherry boards that match the table perfectly.
