The romantic scenes on the chair backs are stenciled, not hand-painted. The elaborate scroll cutouts are machine-made, not hand-carved. The surface finish is imitation distressed gold leaf. The design is a blend of period style elements spanning 3 centuries, which is quite typical of early 20th century manufactured furniture. The barley-twist legs are Jacobean; the cabriole legs and the lyre-form arm supports are Georgian; and the scroll cutouts on the chair backs are Art Nouveau. The set is charming and decorative. The setee meaures 39 inches wide and 39 inches high. The arm measures 23 inches wide and 39 inches to the top of their backs. Side chair meaures 20 inches wide and 39 inches to the top of its back.

This Deco dining set consists of a table with 2 leaves, a sideboard, a cabinet, and 8 upholstered chairs. It dates from about 1925. It is made of figured mahogany and amboyna veneers. It bears the retailer's label Hamptons, Pall Mall, London. The quality is high, but the manufacturer is unknown. The style is after the designs of Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann. The oval-top table has trestle ends joined by a stretcher; the sideboard has 3 drawers over 3 doors, step down sides, and a scrolled apron edged in silvered bronze; the cabinet has 2 drawers over 2 doors, step down sides, and a scrolled apron edged in silvered bronze; the chairs have barrel backs and saber legs mounted with silvered bronze. The set is in very good original condition, with some minor veneer and molding damage and surface wear.
