This pair of bench stands were hand made by the "Stiehl Furniture Company" from solid mahogany and date from 1900. Each stand has four cookie corners that measure outside 19 and one half inches by 16 and one quarter inches. The inside area of the top measures 15 inches deep by 18 inches wide and the height is 29 and one quarters inches. This is a true matched pair. The carving was executed by a master because both stands are exact copies of the finest period 18th Century American Federal stands.

- - - - - - - - | Antique Tall Victorian open twist carved pedestal Item # 4019 Click HERE to inquire about this item Antique Tall Victorian open twist carved pedestal made by the Merklen Brothers spiral furniture company in NYC between 1880 and 1897. This "Victorian Pedestal" is quite strong. I could easily hold a heavy bronze,marble or granite sculpture. Open twist carved pedestals are hard to come by because they were not produced in any great numbers due to the amount of work it took to carve them. This pedestal measures 36 and three quarter inches high and 14 and one quarter inches across its top.
