| - - - - | Turn of the century vintage dining room set Item # 4449 Click HERE to inquire about this item Turn of the century vintage dining room set. This set was made from walnut-stained basswood with walnut surface veneers. It was not made before 1910, and probably closer to 1920. The style of this set was influenced by Italian furniture of the Renaissance period; its details are more subtlethan those of the original because it is manufactured, not handmade. The European Renaissance was a very popular theme of décor here during the early 20th century. This dining set is in good condition, with a bit of wear to the edges, but no more than one would expect to see. Six chairs. Four sides and two arms. Buffet 66 inches long

- - - - - | Vintage mahogany drop leaf table on a pedestal base c1920 Item # 4451 Click HERE to inquire about this item Vintage mahogany drop-leaf table on a pedestal base. It is a reproduction of an original Duncan Phyfe design from about 1820. The table features brass spring mechanisms supporting the raised leaves; these were used after 1920. The stenciled 207 MAH mark is an assembly line mark from the factory that made it. MAH is an abbreviation for mahogany. The reeded edges and fluted shaft were carved by machine. The original 1820 counterpart was entirely handmade by a single cabinetmaker, and the leaf supports were fashioned of wood. This table, while not an antique, is still a nice classic vintage piece

- - - | Carved North Wind Directors Chair c1890 Item # 4459 Click HERE to inquire about this item Carved North Wind Directors Chair c1890. made of oak, dating from about 1890 or so, well after the Civil War. The distinctive face medallion is called a north wind. The north wind theme was popular during the 19th century, particularly in England; it was inspired by the grotesques (gargoyle like masks) often seen on European furniture of the late Renaissance. Your chair was machine made. The mask has cracked, but the chair back has not. That is because the north wind mask was a separate piece that was applied (glued) to the chair back. It was not an integral part of the chair back that was carved by hand. Manufactured ornamental carvings were widely available and in use at the time
