This period American Pine chest is in excellent condition. Pieces from this period are near impossible for us to come by. This chest retains its original base which is quite unusual. Most bases on chests from this period are replace or changed. The chest has had some restoration which includes a replaced top molding and brasses. The chest measures 36 and one quarter inches wide and 20 inches deep at the case, 40 inches wide and 21 and three quarters inches across the top molding and 38 and one half inches wide and 21 inches deep at the base. The graduated drawers are 8 and one half inches at the bottom then,7,6,5,4 inches each as they rise. The top,feet and case are all hand dovetailed.
