Upholstered in fine robin's egg blue cotton moire. Excellent condition. This chair was hand made and joined with wooden pins. The top crest and knees have lovely hand carved detail. Circa 1820. This chair measures 19 inches wide, 20 inches deep, and 45 and one half inches high. It is 18 and one half inches high to the seat and 15 and one quarter inches from seat front to back.

- - - - - - - - - - - - | American Country painted Conn stepback cupboard 1750 Item # 5023 Click HERE to inquire about this item American CT Country painted stepback cupboard 1750. This early American country cupboard was made in Connecticut in the mid eighteenth century. It was purchased from an estate in Glastonbury in the early 1960's. All original. This cupboard is as good as it gets for period country cupboard. It retains is old blue paint with red underwash. The door was made with two boards and held together with a wooden spline. Single board sides top and bottom all cut and made from the same wide board.The original wood latch is made from hard maple and has worn the top of the door down all most to point. There is wonderful wear on the top surface from use such as chopping herbs, vegetables and making bread. Measures 71 inches high, 37 and one half inches wide, 13 inches deep at the top, and 22 and one half inches deep at the bottom. The door measures 24 by 29 inches. The small size of this piece is quite rare. It has never been cut down it is original and one of the best cupboards we have ever had.

It is in three pieces, which are shown in the accompanying photographs; the lid, the bread mixing container, and the bottom stand. There is a single drawer that measures 33 inches wide and is 3 inches deep down. Known as a "pétrin", in the French language. The top section, the container, measures 10 and one half inches wide at the bottom and is 20 inches wide at the top and 38 and one half inches long at the bottom and 47 and one half inches long at the top.
