- - - - - - - - - | Vintage Charak American Federal mahogany sideboard c1939 Item # 8527 Click HERE to inquire about this item Vintage Charak American Federal mahogany sideboard or server c1939. Kaplan Furniture was formed at the beginning of the 20th century (around 1904/1905). In 1915 Joseph Charak joined the firm and it was renamed Kaplan-Charak. That partnership ended in 1919. Charak went on to become one of the finest makers of hand-made and bench-made Colonial Revival furniture in America. This sideboard was handmade with the finest matching solid mahogany. Measures 67.5 inches wide, 37.5 inches wide, 25 inches deep in its center and 18.5 inches at the sides. Wonderful inlays, serpentine front and straight tapered legs. The door on the right contains three drawers to store silver and other dining serving pieces. The original lable is in the top left drawer. States: This piece was hand made in the workshops of Chark Furniture Co., Boston Mass. Number 3920 made 1939.
