This antique desk measures 27 inches wide, 39 inches high to the top, 29 inches to the desk top writing surface, the lid is 12 and one half inches deep, when open, writing surface is 21 and one half inches. There are four 2 inches by 8 and one quarter inch drawers. The interior compartment has a hidden drawer. There are 4 graduated drawers that measures 6 and one half inches, 5 and one half inches, 4 and one half inches and 3 and one half inches. Hand carved solid mahogany. Sypher made exactly copies of period 18th century furniture for the rich and famous at that time. See Americans and the Aesthetic Movement Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition catalog Oct 1986 to 1887 page 116 for information on the company. The Sypher store was established in 1867. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has two examples of Sypher furniture in its permanent collection of American furniture. Excellent condition including its original finish and labels.

A true and rare set of six American Country plank seat chairs with original paint. This is one of the only sets we have ever seen with eagles painted on them. The eagles have a lovely blue paint. Each eagle is slighty different so the had to have been hand painted not stenciled. This set dates from 1820 to 1830. The set is in good as found condition. One chair has had a cracked seat that has been reglued and a repaired top thumb back. Two of the other chairs have had spindels replaced. The paint is all original and a dry mustard color. Each chair measures 34 inches to the top of its back,18 inches to the seat and 17 inches wide.

This harvest or tavern table measures 34 and one eighth inches wide by 72 inches long by 29 and five eighths to the top. This is an early dimes table purchased in the early 1970's made from pine and maple. The bread board ends are mortised and so is the base stretcher. The top is hand hewn.We believe the early Dimes pieces were made much better the pieces they make today but that is our opinion. This is a very strong and well made table.
