Gilded lion masks and flowers; ebonized fans and stacked disc legs. Second quarter of the 19th century. Just in from an important Connecticut estate. These sofas are not only strong, they are also quite comfortable. Excellent condition. They each measure 84 inches wide overall, 60 inches wide between the arms, 27 inches deep overall, 20 inches deep inside the seat, 32.5 inches high at the arm, 36.75 inches high at the back, and 18 inches high at the seat. With four handkerchief hinged supports (each measuring 11.5 inches) that open to allow for more space to play card games. The top turns so the each handkerchief end is supported by a corner of the table for stability. Excellent condition. Some wear to the old green felt. The cherry in this bowfront corner cupboard is a mellow honey brown, enhanced by its old rich patina. Measures 68 inches high, 32 inches wide, 19 inches deep inside, 22 inches outside, 24.25 from back corner to top molding edge, and 22.25 from back corner to side edge. This is a rare diminutive size for a period French country cupboard. Hand made with a block plane and joined with wooden pins. Original hardware and key. The three tapered feet may have been a later addition but are true to the period.
