This is a true set of period American "Rod back Windsors" dating from 1790 to 1810. They are hickory and pine with solid plank seats. Each chair measures 34 and one half inches to the top of the back,17 and one quarter inches to their seats and 15 inches deep overall. Each chair is in excellent condition and strong not loose at all. One of these chairs has a label on the bottom that says Jane Mae Murphy Born 10.1.1776 married John Duncan Born 1.24.1768 on December 15,1795. This is one of the four chairs alike that was part of their wedding outfit. Their daughter Hannah (named for his her Grandmother Hannah Henry) was born April 26 1798 Married Capt. Thomas Patterson Born Aug. 10.1786 on April 30,1818.

This "antique dining table" measures 47 inches wide by 47 inches long and the table top is 29 and one half inches off the ground. Each leaf measure 20 and three quarters inches. When it is fully opened it measures 88 inches. Both leaves have to be raised at the same time to extend the table.Good original condition. One old line crack in one side of the table top. This is to be expected from a period table with single board tops. The legs are lovely each with long slim fluted tapers.This is a very popular form because the table can be separated and used as two servers.

This true pair of Chinese Rosewood arm chairs are the most beautiful and well made of this design and period we have ever seen. The solid rosewood stock is strong and all the joints are mortised. The legs,frame and braces were all hand carved. The two back splats are hand painted and have a relief design depicting a man and a woman facing one another.
