This set is not signed but we are certain is was made by Roux in New York c1850. This wonderful and rare rosewood parlor set was purchased from the descendants of the original owners and it has never been reupholstered. We do have all the inside springs etc. but the silk was poor condition.If you like period Victorian furniture finding a complete set like this is as rare as it gets. The Sofa measures 72 and one half inches wide, 26 inches deep and 52 and one half inches high. The two arm chairs each measure 48 inches high,24 inches deep and 24 and one half inches wide at the outside. The side chairs each measure 43 inches high,20 inches deep and 20 and one half inches wide at the outside.

They each retain their original deep rich colored finish and are in impeccable condition. Each cabinet measures 39 inches wide and 101 inches high at the widest points. The carvings on both had to of been done by a master craftsman because they are so finely detailed and executed. This is the only pair we have ever had in inventory in our 30 years of selling fine and rare antique furniture.

This "Thomas Brooks" American Victorian Rosewood desk was made in New York c1850 and is in mint original condition. This American Victorian ladies desk measures 37 inches wide by 18 and one half inches deep by 74 and one half inches high at its outside. Truly a masterpiece by Brooks who was one of the top furniture makes of his day. The interior is satin wood and the piece is signed on its back.

Set of twelve 'Gothic Revival dining chairs" made by "John and Joseph Meeks NY" in 1850. This is and extremely rare set of chairs made by Meeks. They match the set that is in the White House. See "The White House" page 120 for photographs of the same set of chairs along with a sketch by Stellwagen of Lincolns Cabinet Room showing them as well. This set of twelve Meeks chairs were refinished years ago and are not only in superb condition they are one of the most comfortable sets of chairs we have ever handled.The two arm chairs each measure 37 and one half inches high,26 inches deep and 24 inches wide (out side dimensions) and 24 inches to the top of the arms,and 20 inches deep inside front to back. The ten side chairs each measure 35 inches high,20 inches deep and 17 and one half inches wide (out side dimensions). They are not only comfortable they are very strong chairs so one would not have to worry about a heavy person sitting in them.
