This diminutive cabinet was perhaps made for a small house or city apartment, where it might have been necessary to negotiate narrow flights of stairs and winding hallways. Another possibility is that it was part of a large dining room suite that incorporated several serving and display pieces of various sizes. It is a provincial Louis XV style, but was probably made around 1890
