This is simply the best French Brisse we have ever handled. The quality is superb. It is comfortable and very generously proportioned. The entire frame is made from a beautiful solid French walnut with mortise and pin construction. This chair dates from about 1780 to 1820. Apart from the velvet upholstery, it is in excellent original condition without restoration, including the original horse hair stuffing. The 2 pieces piece measure 78 inches long. The chair measures 41 inches to the top of its back and the in side measures 25 inches by 25 inches and 18 inches to the seat. The long ottoman measures 41 inches long by 26 inches across by 18 inches high.

- - - | Set four Setback Windsor chairs c1800 Item # 4255 Click HERE to inquire about this item Set of four Period American step-down rod back Windsor chairs. Step-down refers to the shape of the outer edges of the back crests. At 17 inches high to the seats, the legs have lost about a half an inch of height. The paint is old but it is not original; we can see traces of red beneath it. They were made in New England circa 1800 to 1820.
