This little box was made from solid silver and was hand casted in a mold. Measures 3 inches wide, 2 inches deep and 1 and three quarter inches high. Heavy deep casting. Unsigned. French Colonial Indochine silver tea cannister 19th century Item # 5860 Click HERE to inquire about this item French Colonial Indochine 19th c tea box. This silver box is from the middle19th century, probably Hanoi. Signed on the bottom Argent 800 HOA. This box would have been made in what is now part of Vietnam during the French occupation, which was 1887 to 1954. Very fine handwork depicting dense vines and leaves with beading. Measures 3 and one quarter inches high by 2 and seven eighths inches high. The inside is lined in rosewood, still fragrant of tea. Condition very good with just one tiny ding to the cover edge. This sterling silver porringer weighs 248 grams which is quite heavy for a sterling porringer. Measures 7 and one half inches long by 2 inches high and 5 and one quarter inches across its center.
