These smaller trophies are quite rare. The Locomobile was the first American car to win an International race in 1908 and the company based in Bridgeport CT had reception where these small trophies were given out to commemorate the event and in 1909 the company used this trophy as a mascot for their car radiators. By 1910 the Locomobile company had given up completely on entering automobile races . This automobile memorabilia piece measures 4 and one quarter inches high and made by the Forbes Silver Company in quadruple plated silver.

Each of these matched pair measure 8 and three quarters inches wide by 3 and one half inches high and weigh 480 grams. The open work on each of these pieces is as good as it gets. They are both solid silver including the bases not weighted like lesser quality makers. Each is marked on its base Sterling D 4889 8 and one quarter inches Black Srarr and Frost New York with an eagle. This eagle Black Starr and Frost New York mark dates from 1876 to 1929 when the mark changed to Black Starr Frost Gorham Inc. Excellent condition with both off their original felt covers.Center monogram.
