Antique Doulton Persian vase hand painted by George White Item # 2905 Click HERE to inquire about this item Antique Doulton persian vase It measures 13 and one quarter inches high. It is in the form referred to as classic Sevres on a square pedestal base with a trumpet lip. This form was intended to be displayed in pairs. It is stamped with the brown Doulton Burselm crown mark, and is incised with additional factory marks. This particular mark was used after 1877 and before 1891. It is stamped by the retailer J.E. Caldwell & Co. Philadelphia. The hand-painted artist's mark, GW, is that of George White, who was employed from 1885 to 1912. The upper bulbous section of the vase is a band of peonies and foliage with raised gold outlines. The lower portion, the neck, and the stem are in a brocade design with a raised gold floral and foliate overlay. Separating the two designs are bands of raised nibs and fluting.
