This "Chinese storage container" dates from the early 19th century. The condition is quite good with just a few chips along the covers edge. The blue and white decoration is quite good. Made around 1820 the set which this piece was a part of belonged to Laban Smith born 1765 and Mary his wife Nee Bradley 1767 to 1834 of Fair Haven and Wooster Street New Haven CT. This piece is in very good condition with the exception of some blue paint on its outer rim that appears to have run in the firing process.
