Founder of her own art school in Springfield, MA, Huse was director of Massachusetts' WPA Art Project in the 1940s. Her works were exhibited and acclaimed throughout New England, New York and abroad, including Paris and Munich. She studied at Boston's New School of Design and Pittsburgh's Carnegie Institute. Well listed in Who Was Who in American Art, Ask Art, Davenport's, Art Net, etc. The frame is 21.5" H x 25.5" W. The painting is 17.5" W x 12.5" H. Excellent condition. 19th century Japanese silk scroll painting c1870. Delicately rendered painting depicts a "cracked ice" vase of pink peonies with blue and green leaves on a gray gnarled root stand with narcissus and fungi at the base. There is a calligraphy poem and stamp on the lower right. The scroll is traditionally bordered in panels of dark gold silk brocades. No flaws or fading, excellent condition. The image measures 13" wide by 40" long; the giltwood frame measures 19" wide by 73.75" long.

The solid wood frame is 25 x 35 x 2 inches. Mr. Zimmerman was an internationally known artist who lived in Hartford, CT, Kokomo, IN, and Toledo, OH. Born in Toledo, he graduated from Kokomo High School in 1941 with a full scholarship to John Herron Art School in Indianapolis. Upon graduation in 1946 with a B.F.A., he was awarded the Mary Milliken Memorial Fund Scholarship. He continued his training in New York City, under Heinrich Mayer. In 1947, he became associate professor of painting and design at Hartford University School of Art. He was awarded a Ford Foundation Grant, American Academy of Arts and Letters and associate membership in the Academy of Painting and Design in 1959. He had well over 86 awards.

He was Consul General in Sao Paulo Brazil between 1964-1969.

Oil on board by Italian artist Sergio Cirno Bissi (1902 to 1987) titled Minaret and Market. The frame measures 21 by 16 and one half inches and the painting measures 16 by 11 and one half inches. Originally sold by Simic New Renaissance Galleries of Carmel La Jolla Palm Desert Scottsdale, inventory number 8606. Born in Campagnia, Florence, Bissi was an artist for 50 years. He specialized in painting his native countrymen going about their daily lives, but also traveled around Europe and the Mediterranean. This scene is probably Algerian or Moroccan. His work is distinguished by his lightly dashed brushstrokes and high contrast saturated colors.

Willem Roelofs Dutch landscape painting. Oil on canvas, signed and dated 1859. The quiet scene depicts a woman walking beside a river with a small arched bridge and a house in the background. Roelofs was born in Amsterdam in 1822 and died in Antwerp in 1897. He studied with H Van de Zande Bakhuyzen at the Hague Academy in Brussels from 1847 to 1887. He came under the influence of the French painters of the Barbizon School, particularly Dabigny and Rousseau. Roelofs was known for his water and meadow scenes. Wilhelm Kray antique oil painting Venus Aphrodite

Wilhelm Kray oil on canvas painting, Venus Aphrodite. The canvas measures 62.5 inches high by 44.5 inches wide, and the frame measures 73.5 inches high by 55.5 inches wide. Wilhelm Kray was a French schooled German painter of portraits, landscapes, and historical and genre scenes. He was born in Berlin in 1828 and died in Munich in 1889. Kray started out as a silversmith, but ended up studying painting in Paris. After touring Italy and Austria, he settled in Bavaria and became a professor. His work hangs in the Museum of Cologne and the Museum of Gratz. This very painting "Venus Aphrodite" is listed in E. Benezit as having been sold on March 7, 1911 for 8500 francs. This exquisite, museum quality painting is in excellent condition and is mounted in an impressive carved wood gold leaf frame with nameplate.
