Fannie Burr impressionist landscape oil painting c1878. Estate inventory number 032. The painting has a wonderful sense of spring with its soft yellows, pinks, greens and blues. Depicting a Connecticut landscape, trees in a field of yellow flowers with hills in the distance. The frame measures 20.5 " x 14.5 "and the painting 18 x 12 inches. Fannie Burr (1858-1931) was born into Monroe, CT's most prominent family. Her father was a very successful farmer. She attended and graduated from Mt Holyoke College and the Yale School of Fine Arts, and studied at the Art Students League in NYC. These accomplishments were very rare for a young woman in those days. Listed in Who Was Who in American Art by Peter Falk. Exhibition at the New Britain Museum of American Art New Britain CT.
