Vintage Felipe Martinez Taxco hand made sterling silver and five stone bracelet, Taxco, Mexico, c1940. Jewelry by Martinez is prized by collectors. His work is among the finest jewelry ever designed and made in Taxco, during its most important period of artisian silver making. Signed with the "F. Martinez 925" Taxco mark, which pre-dates the studio mark "Plata Y Piedra" which he began using in 1950. This piece has substantial weight, and the individual sections are technically perfect; the design beautifully combines color, movement and line, a testament to Martinez's artistry. Felipe Martinez designs were inspired by pre-Columbian pieces. See MEXICAN SILVER 20th Century HANDWROUGHT JEWELRY and METAL WORK by Penny Chittim Morrill and Carole A. Berk. Published by Schiffer 1994 pages pages 188 and 246. This is a very rare example of Felipe Martinez silver jewelry. It measures 7 inches long by 1 and one quarter inches wide. Excellent condition.
