Fannie Burr (American 1858-1931) watercolor on paper of a marsh inlet with a small bridge and sailing vessels. Probably near New Haven, CT. Unsigned. Mounted in gold leaf frame and matted in silk with a gold gilt. Image 9.5 x 5; frame 16.75 x 12.25 x 1. Jennie was born into Monroe, CT's most prominent family. Her father was a very successful farmer. She attended and graduated from Mt Holyoke College and the Yale School of Fine Arts, and studied at the Art Students League in NYC. These accomplishments were very rare for a young woman in those days. Listed in Who Was Who in American Art by Peter Falk. Exhibition at the New Britain Museum of American Art, New Britain, CT. Catalogue of work produced by The Connecticut Gallery, Inc. This painting was acquired directly from an heir to the estate.
