Vintage pair of Doric style architectural fluted columns, each measuring 8'9" tall, cast in 3 parts. Made from a combination of cement and fiberglass. Each column is strong and quite heavy; it takes 3 men to move one. Originally sourced in Newport, RI, in 1960. An architecturally correct column is one with the general modeling and proportions that evolved over centuries of use in the Greco-Roman world. A true classical column is an anthropomorphic shape, often referred to as an analog of the human form, with a clearly defined head and foot.
