Fannie Burr watercolor of a woman scrubbing laundry in a yard c1900. This is probably a watercolor of Jennie, Fannie's younger sister, washing white bed sheets in the family's back yard in Monroe, CT. The frame measures 18.75 x 15.5 inches. The watercolor measures 10 x 13 inches. Acquire directly from an heir to the estate. The probate inventory number 39 is on the reverse. Excellent condition. Fannie Burr (1858-1931) was born into Monroe, CT's most prominent family. Her father was a very successful farmer. She attended and graduated from Mt Holyoke College and the Yale School of Fine Arts, and studied at the Art Students League in NYC. These accomplishments were very rare for a young woman in those days. Listed in Who Was Who in American Art by Peter Falk. Exhibition at the New Britain Museum of American Art New Britain CT.
