Antique assembled pair of lifeguard oars each over 16 feet long dating from the 19thc. One has some old light gray paint on it and the other does not. Note the leather covers where their hands held the oars. Many Lifeguards in the 19thc used boats that were launched into the water from sheds that were high above the beaches. This gave them the speed they need to get their heavy boats out into the water. This pair of oars came from an estate in coastal Rhode Island.
