This Georgian secretary measures 70 inches wide, 22 inches deep and 95 and three quarter inches high. The piece was made in multiple sections. There is a center cylinder desk, two banks with doors, three tops with divided light glass doors and three cornices. The cylinder opens to reveal an adjustable writing surface. This writing surface can slide back to reveal an area for paper storage. The small interior drawers are each made with fine hand cut dovetails and retain their original ivory knobs. The brass drawer pulls are original as well. This is a very rare piece of period English Georgian furniture in pristine condition. The actual felt covered desk top measures 16 and one quarter inches wide and is 14 inches deep. The drawer of this antique lap roll top desk measures 15 and one quarter inches wide inside and is 1 and one quarter inches high. The drawer extends outward, 6 and three quarter inches. The drawer has a key which locks it, and when pulled open, unrolls the roll top to expose a storage box which lifts up and locks in place with a wooden locking system. We were told by the estate that this antique laptop desk had belonged to Lord Pentland. It is without a doubt the best laptop desk we have had. The box is made from the finest matching mahogany with inset brass braces all around its sides, middle, and top. The desk opens to a tapered, hand tooled leather writing surface. Inside there are compartments for pens, pencils, and an ink well. When we removed the tray, we suspected that the box had a secret compartment. After several hours, we located a tiny slot that, when a pen knife is inserted into it, releases a solid mahogany board concealing three fine small drawers just underneath the inkwell and pencil holder. It is nearly impossible to detect. The box is in excellent condition with original key. Measures 16 inches wide by 10 inches deep and 6 inches high. This birdseye maple cheval mirror is in mint original condition. The original John Breuner label is still on the reverse. The front and back are all covered with birdseye maple and the scroll design is all hand carved. As nice as the pictures we have provided look this cheval mirror is far more important looking in person. The light maple color gives it an elegant look. Measures 71 and one quarter inches high by 32 inches at its widest point. The design of this antique Cheval mirror is quite unusual, it was handmade so the the mirror and the supporting arms pivot without having to move the whole piece or its base. John Breuner, a famous Sacramento furniture maker, was reputed to have started his career building cradles for the miners and had a thriving business building sturdy beds.
