This very heavy antique castiron fire back measures 25 and one half inches wide by 36 and one half inches tall. Very good as found condition.The date mark ANNO 1667 was cast in the bottom border. The scene is a classical image of a woman and children in an orchard. There is a goose in the foreground, and a pair of dolphins form the crest. Our consignor had contacted Sotheby's to see if they would be interested in selling it for her. They responded that it was a lovely piece but would sell for under their $6000.00 minimum. These antique gargoyle statues measure 12 and one half inches tall and are 6 inches wide and measure 5 and one half inches deep. Each weighs approximately 40 lbs. They retain most of their original paint but do have some areas that were repainted. We are not quite sure what they were used for but are they are antique,quite decorative and were brought back from Austria 25 years ago. $1200
