RARE early lignum vitae covered snuff tobacco container circa 1820. This unusual piece of treen, or treenware, would have been used in a tobacco shop. The finial unplugs, allowing a little snuff to be poured onto a tray, and the main cover breaks two thirds of the way up the body of the jar. It measures 14 inches high with a 6.5 inch center.
