Shaker brass kitchen skimmer with iron handle, circa 1825 to 1850, from the Hancock Shaker Village, Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Measures 25.5 inches long and 7 inches across the skimmer. Note the hand hammered rivets that join the skimmer to the handle. Excellent original condition. Please see Shaker Design: The Exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art New York, May 29 - August 31, 1986, by June Sprigg, page 34.
