18th Century French Morbier brass wall clock with 2 piece repousee headpiece featuring the Roi de Soleil symbol. For a nearly identical example, please see "The Morbier 1680 to 1900" by Steve Z. Nemrava, Portland, Oregon, 1975, page 27. The symbolism of the headpiece decoration and the differences between circa 1800 examples like this one with folding pendulum, and the later examples with brass pendulums, are explained within the copy. This clock runs well provided it is hung perfectly level both side to side and front to back. Measures 54 inches long by 9 and one half inches wide by 6 inches deep.
