Paul Lipp is a New Haven, Connecticut, artist working in the classic realist tradition. His paintings reflect trips throughout the small towns and boroughs of New England. Born in 1937 in West Haven, CT, Paul served 3 years in the Marine Corps, after which he attended Paier School of Art in Hamden, CT. He graduated as valedictorian of his class and was invited back for a fifth-year scholarship in advanced illustration. Paier immediately recruited the talented young student to become an assistant professor. Paul taught art for 18 years while pursuing his own fine art skills and accepting private commissions from such leading publications as Golf Digest and PGA magazine. He has exhibited his work in major shows at the Connecticut Academy, Springfield Museum, Mystic Maritime Gallery, Quinnipiac University and the Lyme Art Association, to name a few. He has received awards from the National Society of Illustrators, the Benedictine Fine Arts Competition and the Mount Carmel Art Association. In June 2008, his painting, “Peaceful Cove,” won best-in-show at the Sylvan Gallery’s exhibition, “A Sense of Place,” juried by Lou Bonamarte. Corporate clients include Bunker Ramo, Connecticut Distributors, Merrill Lynch, Conoco, Alberta Gas, Olin, IBM, Microdot, American Tobacco, Exxon, Pfizer and Pitney Bowes. Lipp’s paintings are in over 500 private and corporate collections throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Olive Parker Black (1868–1948) was a talented American female artist who thrived during the primarily male-dominated period of nineteenth century American painting, Olive Parker Black studied at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League, under the tutelage of renowned American painters, Hugh Bolton Jones, William Merritt Chase, and Edwin Blashfield. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the artist spent much of her career in New York, though she often summered in the Berkshire Mountains, where she painted many of her prized landscapes. Black was a member of the National Association of Women Artists, the New York Society of Painters, the American Artists Professional League, and the Copley Society in Boston. During her lifetime, Black exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the National Academy of Design, the Boston Art Club, the Society of American Artists, and the Carnegie Institute. Italian romantic landscape circa 1800-1806. Attributed to Michele Felice Corne, born in Elba, Italy, in 1752, died in Newport, RI, in1845. Oil on canvas, 29" x 36.25". Dramatic view of ruins and stone towers. Listed in Christie's Important American Furniture Sale, NY, January 18th and 19th, 2007. Corne grew up in Naples and was brought to the US in 1799 by Salem merchant Elias Hasket Derby, Jr. He was active in Salem until 1806, and worked with Samuel McEntire and William King, and helped establish marine painting as a Salem Tradition. After moving to Boston, he became noted for paintings of ships and naval battles of the War of 1812, many of which were engraved. After 1822, he lived and taught in Newport. George Ropes and Hannah Crowninshield were among his pupils. His work hangs in the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, CT; Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA; NY Hist. Soc.; New Haven Colony Hist.
