Standing carved wood figure of Quanyin with scroll c1820 to 1850Standing carved figure of Quanyin with right hand raised in abhayamudra with the thumb and middle finger touching, and the left hand holding a scroll, wearing a lotus necklace and long layered robes falling in graceful folds and tied with a long tassle-hung cord, the face carved with gentle expression and the hair drawn up into a high topknot secured with a ruyi-tipped hair pin. Figure, including shaped lotus platform: 15" H Overall dimensions, including scroll end plinth 27 1/2" H. Note: 2 finger tips missing. Dates from the early 19th century. The silk shade is vintage c.1940s of Oriental design. |
