Aesthetic Movement ebonized cherry cylinder desk c1880. This American furniture Aesthetic Movement desk is rare, in mint all original condition and has lovely cut out designs and hand carved door detail. Aesthetic movement pieces were made from solid cherry wood because of its tight grain was not susceptible to splits or warpage. It was then covered with an ebonized hand rubbed finish. Measures 65 inches high to the back of its crest 31 inches wide, 21 inches deep. The writing surface with its hand tooled leather insert is 9 inches deep but slides out to a full 16 inches.
