Amerigo Vespuci Italian navy ships model in case. This well executed ships model depicts all the details of the original ship down to the rigging, pulleys ropes and life boats. Planked sides with brass cannon ports. This ship model measures 24 inches high by 41 inches wide by 6 inches deep and 8 and one half inches at the life boats. The case measures 28 inches high by 44 and one quarter inches wide by 14 and one half inches deep. The Amerigo Vespucci is certainly one of the most known, and many consider the most beautiful ship, on the seas today. This is the main training ship for the Italian Navy. It was ordered in 1929 and commissioned in 1931 at the Royal Italian Shipyard of Castellamare di Stabia in Naples. This is an accurate rendering of the seventy four gun wooden hull frigate. Fine internal structural details can be seen through the portholes. This model was made in the mid to late 20th century and come to us from a local estate.
