The Blacksmith sculpture by sculptor Emile Louis Picault
It depicts a young man holding an anvil; "Le Forgeron" is the title; it is French for "The Blacksmith." The artist is Emile Louis Picault, a French sculptor who was born in 1839, and died about 1890. This sculpture is white metal over plaster. This sculpture was originally produced in a 36" casting, which was patinated, or colored, gray-brown to imitate more costly bronze.
