Antique Chinese chest with brass trim c1800
Antique Chinese chest with brass trim c1800. This Antique "Chinese chest" is in excellent original condition including its finish. This piece is so superior to the reproduction pieces being imported today. The brass is thick and all hand cut and finished. The cabinet is made with beautiful mortise joints and the wood is well finished heavy stock with dovetailed drawers. Single drawer over double doors with heavy brass handles. This as nice a piece of Antique Chinese furniture as you will find anywhere. The true antique pieces like this one are hard to come by. See Chinese Household furniture by George N Kates #27 c1948 for a similar example of this Chinese furniture form. This antique Chinese chest measures 34 and one quarter inches wide by 17 and three quarter inches. The overall width is 35 and three quarter inches wide by 19 and three quarter inches. This Chinese chest is 32 and one half inches high.
