Antique Pier Mirror in gold leaf
Antique Pier mirror.At just over eight feet talll this "Pier mirror" is an impressive size. It dates to the late 19th or early 20th century. The gilt surface finish appears to be of metal-leaf rather than gold-leaf. I believe the mirror and stand have wood frames with plaster molding. The open-carved foliate scrolls are probably built of heavy wire with plaster molding. This wood-plaster-wire construction method is what was typically used at that time
