Antique French or Jersey Island lidded flagon jug
Antique French or Jersey Island lidded flagon jug, This French pewter lidded jug could be from "Jersey Island" we are not certain. It dates from the mid 18 th century. This period antique pewter "flagon" is in excellent condition with a glass like patina from years of handling. The top lid is hallmarked and the handle has two acorns. This wonderful and rare piece of antique pewter measures six and one quarter inches to the top of the lid and 7 inches to the top of the acorns.In Woolmer & Arkwrights, Pewter of the CI, they classify this flagon as a Guernsey Type 1 This would make a great addition to any Continental pewter collection.
