American Civil War photograph. Antique handpainted photograph of two Civil War soldiers. The back says John W. Hanford (standing) born Charles City County, Virgina in 1840. Killed by Indians near Tombstone,Arizona in 1884. Confederate Soldier 1860-1865. Father of Ernest J. Hanford ( 1869-1937), grandfather of John W. Hanford (1916- Frame measures 9 3/4 inches by 7 1/2 inches
